Norma Velásquez

Biography

I am a film producer for over 11 years now, always helping make every director’s project come true by making their dreams my own.

“Ni tuya ni mía” (a.k.a. It’s not your fault) is my first adventure as a director/screenwriter. It was born while I was talking with one of my best friends who just ended a relationship that seemed to have lasted a lifetime. I was going through a rough break up as well, so we both felt our world was falling apart. While reflecting on the matter, we both came to realize that the pain you feel after a break up is very similar to the grieve you go through when somebody you love dies because many things die within you: your dreams, hopes, projections and everything you build and became with this significant other.

Everybody goes through a grieving process when a meaningful relationship ends. We are filled with anger and several questions emerge from the experience. But only with time we get to understand this questions and find answers for them.

That is my purpose with “Ni tuya ni mía”: to show and transmit these series of feelings that come with the loss of a loved one. I truly hope I have made justice to it. I hope to steal some laughs, tears, and passion from the audience. But above all, to make them understand that, in order to continue this long path which is living, we must learn to let some people go.
